We were tasked by the internal training and development division with supporting a huge influx of expat managers and engineers to their U.S. based operations after having made a large acquistion of a domestic company in their field. In order to support the transition of the newly acquired company to their operational protocols and corporate culture, hundreds of expats and their families (which included spouses and children) were brought in from their headquarters in Buenos Aires, Argentina as well as from numerous other global facility locations. They needed to provide ESL classes to all of the expat employees as well as their accompanying family members in multiple sites in the U.S. at both their offices and at their homes to support the family members in a convenient manner.

The corporate ESL program is designed for expats working in white collar executive, management, or professional positions like engineers, etc who graduated with university degrees from their country of origin who have more sophisticated English communication needs. Often, these types of individuals already have acquired a basic or even a solid level of English proficiency and are looking to develop more advanced communication skills needed to excel in a professional corporate work environment in the U.S. Also, the learning style of an expat professional who graduated from university differs greatly than students who work in a vocational, manual labor type environment. The corporate English program accommodates those more advanced language needs.
We offer individual one-to-one classes as well as groups. Both work depending on the situation. Our experience over twenty years is that corporate ESL classes can be more effective when taken individually due to widely varying schedules and availability for expats holding executive or management positions. Also, individual needs with objectives and pace of learning can vary quite a bit so one-to-one class formats are often found to be more accommodating. But there are situations where a group class format can work quite well.
